Dragon Roulette: A Thrilling Twist on the Classic Casino Game

The folks at Dragon Gaming have done the impossible with Dragon Roulette: They refreshed a casino classic in a way that steps up the gaming experience while still maintaining the integrity of the original. This game has definitely helped attract people to online roulette in Canada—and for good reason.

PLAY ROULETTE GAMES

As soon as you set eyes on the layout, you’ll appreciate the thought that went into the design. The classic betting board and roulette wheel sit overtop of a felt-green backdrop that looks like it would fit in at a high-end bricks-and-mortar casino in Vegas. The wheel has also been designed to replicate a traditional roulette wheel with beautiful wood and brass detailing throughout. We’re happy to see the best part of roulette has been kept in its pure state with this new version of the game.

However, that’s not to say it’s the same old roulette as yesteryear. An unexpected addition is the great golden dragon that clutches the roulette wheel and breathes fire over the display when you launch every round. The fire display is not just for looks either; the fireballs land on random numbers on the betting board, assigning multipliers to the Straight bets. The outcomes and possibilities are endless—and the visuals are stunning.

The numbers and bets in Dragon Roulette are the same as in classic European Roulette. The board has numbers 0-36; you’ll find betting tabs for even and odd, black and red, high and low, 1st, 2nd and 3rd dozen all in the same spots as the standard game. The only thing you won’t find are the French Call bets that are typically tucked into European Roulette’s secondary betting options and often fly under the radar anyway.

The soundtrack rounds out the full sensory experience of the game. Piano and flute make up the atmospheric background music, while the sound effects aim to recreate a roulette ball gently rolling around a roulette wheel before settling in a winning pocket. The sound effects and ambient sound have toggles to turn them off if you grow tired of it.

Dragon Gaming has successfully refreshed the traditional game of roulette, with an exciting new feature, in a way that will appeal even to roulette purists. We had a great time testing this new game, and want to share our opinion of it in this guide.

Dragon Roulette Bets: What Makes This Game Special?

When you play Dragon Roulette, you get more opportunity to win big than with regular roulette thanks to the game’s multiplier bonus feature. Every round, the golden dragon breathes fireballs that unleash multipliers onto the betting board. The multipliers range from a mere 50X to a whopping 500X and land on a random assortment of numbers. There could be just a single number or the maximum five if you’re lucky. Every round is different.

The only way to win the multiplier prize is by correctly betting on the winning number straight up. If your chosen number wins through a multi-bet (evens/odds, line bet, corner) you won’t get the multiplier prize, but you will still get the standard roulette payout, as we’ll discuss below. This makes Straight bets more compelling here than with regular roulette.

The multiplier bonus is applied directly to your bet. For example, if you bet $20 on No. 5 as a Straight bet and won with a 200% multiplier—lucky you. The payout would be $4,000. You won’t find those types of payouts playing ordinary roulette, or most of our table games.

Spin the Wheel and Win with Dragon Roulette

Dragon Roulette takes European Roulette up a notch with its flashy multiplier prizes and fun dragon animations. You get the same great game you’re used to playing, with all of the same betting options, but there’s an extra layer of winning potential without any extra cost to you.

Of course, the only way to capitalize on that extra winning potential is to bet on numbers straight up. If this is how you like to play roulette, then Dragon Roulette is the best option available. You even get the European wheel that doesn’t include the double-zero (00) that many seasoned roulette players avoid. The house edge with Dragon Roulette is 2.70%, which is the same as with European Roulette.

Anything you win playing Dragon Roulette goes straight to your Bodog account. Keep it there for your next casino session, or request a withdrawal at your convenience. You can withdraw funds once a week via a couriered cheque or even more frequently with one of six accepted cryptocurrencies.

Master Your Game with a Winning Roulette Strategy

There’s no getting around the fact that roulette is a game of chance. The outcome of every spin is independent from the previous round, and there’s no way to influence things.

Some players experiment with the well-known Martingale System that is based on the premise of recovering losses. With its origins dating back to the 18th Century, the Martingale advises doubling your bet after every loss to recoup the lost bet; then with a single win, you’ll be ahead. The danger, however, is that you could run into a losing streak long enough to reach the maximum bet allowed at a table, or even worse, burn through your bankroll without ever getting to that winning round. Take precaution with this gambling strategy and stay within your limits.

Due to the nature of roulette and lucky numbers in general, there will always be some superstition around the game. People like to know what numbers are more prevalent in any given session, and the easiest way to see this is with the Outcomes tab, which is visible in most roulette games, including Dragon Roulette. On the tab, you can see the last 10 numbers to come up in your session.

For a better idea of which numbers are more prevalent, open the Statistics tab to see which numbers are running hot and cold. Here, you’ll see the three most-drawn numbers and the three least-drawn numbers for your session.

Also on the Statistics page is a metre that tracks the percentage of odd and even numbers landed throughout a session. This tool is designed with the outside bettors in mind.

Lastly, on a little chart under the spinning wheel, you can see the numbers that the multipliers are landing on. This is especially helpful since they do cover the numbers on the board making it hard to see.

Regardless of which roulette strategy you enjoy most, there are lots of ways to keep track of the action in Dragon Roulette.

Roulette Payouts: How Much Can You Win in Dragon Roulette?

Dragon Roulette is played with a European Roulette wheel, meaning there are numbers 1 to 36 plus 0 to bet on. As mentioned, the standard house edge for European Roulette is 2.7%, the same as Dragon Roulette. 2.70% house edge is lower than the house edge in American Roulette, which sits at a hefty 5.26%. Payouts are the same between the American roulette and European game and range from 1:1 (odds/evens) to 35:1 (Straight); the American Roulette’s higher house edge comes from the double-zero in the pocket.

All of the payouts in Dragon Roulette are the same as standard roulette except for the Straight bet. This single-number bet pays 29:1 in Dragon Roulette—unless you get a multiplier with it. The Straight bet multiplier ranges from 50X to 500X as a bonus. If you were to put the maximum $500 bet on a Straight number and win with the maximum 500X multiplier, the payout would be astronomical: $250,000.

Just like with regular roulette, Dragon Roulette has inside bets and outside bets, each of which will appeal to a different type of casino player.

Inside bets, which range from a single number to six, are found in the interior of the betting board. These bets pay the most, but are also the riskiest. This is where you find the Straight (1 number), Split (2 numbers), Street (3 numbers), Corner (4 numbers) and Line (6 numbers) bets. The payouts are as follows in Dragon Roulette:

Straight                            29:1
Split                                  17:1
Street                               11:1
Corner                              8:1
Line                                   5:1

Outside bets are preferred by more conservative bettors who like to win more frequently—albeit with the trade off of lower payouts. These bets cover groups of 12 or 18 numbers on the board and include Column (12 numbers), 1st, 2nd and 3rd Dozen (12 numbers), Low/High (18 numbers), Red/Black (18 numbers), and Even/Odd (18 numbers). The payouts are as follows:

Column                            2:1
Dozen                               2:1
Low/High                        1:1
Red/Black                        1:1
Even/Odd                        1:1

After collecting a payout, you can use the “ReBet” button to bet the same amount on the same numbers, or switch things up for a fresh chance at winning. You’ll see a record of the winning numbers on the board for 10 rounds.

Why Dragon Roulette is the Ultimate Roulette Game

There’s no other game quite like Dragon Roulette—except maybe Double Dragon Roulette, which we have too. At its core, Dragon Roulette is just like European Roulette with its rock-bottom house edge and wide range of betting options that doesn’t include the unpopular double-zero.

But unlike European Roulette, which taps out at 35:1 for payouts, Dragon Roulette gives you a chance to win over 14X that: 499:1. If that 500X multiplier lines up just right, you could walk away a hero with the top payout in this game.

This chance comes at no extra cost to you. You don’t have to make a secondary bet to be eligible for the multiplier prize, and house edge is the same as with European Roulette. The only differing payout is with the Straight bet which pays 29:1 when it’s not boosted with a multiplier. If you think that lower payout is worth the excitement of blazing multipliers lighting up the board, take this game for a spin.
